Blog Article

Feels very weird writing this blog considering we played them 3 days ago. Im glad to see the back of Crewe, sick of seeing the same kind of game every time. Lets just say we wont be getting play offs with our home form. Absolute rubbish. When we need to win Zach Ertz Jersey we bottle it, sick to death of us not performing at home. Officials were a joke to, Luke Murphy should have been of for an elbow but you know we never get anything go our way. So annoyed with how our season is going, getting so close in JPT and so close to the play offs and failing is just sickening. Might still have a chance of them but I dont think we can, especially with the home form like I said. Credit to Crewe again, theyve took chances but Im just grateful I wont have to see that red kit again, well for the foreseeable future.Lee Carsley made one for forced change with Richard Wood out injured with William Edjenguele coming in. Yet again the home side started well with Gary McSheffreys cro s being headed just over the bar by Leon Clarke. City did test keeper Steve Phillips with their next chance as Carl Baker curling shot was parried by Phillips with Clarke trying to get a hold of the follow up but he looked like he was fouled, but you like I said we were getting nothing all game. They did manage to take the lead though as the play was started from goalkeeper Joe Murphy who played it out to Cyrus Christie who did the same as he played a long ball over the top for Clarke who chested well then volleying past Steve Phillips in the Crewe goal. The goal gave the away side momentum as Gregor Robertson just outside of the box brought out a great one handed save from Murphy who tipped it over the bar. From the resulting corner they did equalise though as Robertson corner was volleyed into the net by Mark Ellis. Quite funny how both scorers from Wednesday night scored the first 2 goals today. The game got a bit hot tempered though as Crewe captain to me looked like he elbowed Carl Dickinson which the on loan man was not at all happy with, both of them being booked for the original foul and the pushing by Dickinson, cant blame him though I think he should have been off. Crewe again shown there threat from set pieces as Robertsons corner again causing Murphy coming off his line after the ball wasnt cleared blocking a Harry Davis effort. Coventry came back through James Bailey as some good build up play around the Crewe penalty area led to the on loan Derby midfielder to side foot just wide. Cyrus Christie was next to be put into the referee book. Crewe had the last effort as Mathias Pogba, not as good as his brother Paul hopefully! Shot straight at Murphy.I was hoping that we would come out second half and test keeper Phillips a bit more, Stephen Elliot had a great chance as him and McSheffrey played a nice interchange on the left hand side sending the striker to fire a low drive which rattled off the post, looked a save by Phillips but Im not entirely sure. Steven Jennings who I thought doesnt drive forward enough had 3 glorious chances to score. His first was a low shot which forced Phillips to push it out for a corner. Jennings second chance brought out an even more acrobatic save as Bernhard Seikovits Jersey he curled a cracking shot into the far post only for Phillips to parry it away. But back came Crewe through Byron Moore as he had two chances of his own, his first on the right hand side was easily saved by Murphy but his second one was much more frightening to watch as he raced through for only Murphy to make himself big and stop any danger towards his goal. Coventry had another opportunity as a quick corner sent Baker into the box then sending the Liverpudian to hit a curling shot only for Gregor Robertson to head off the line. Quite funny as I shown the Wednesday game blog to a few Crewe fans on Twitter and they said they were disappointed that I didnt mention Gregor Robertson as he had his game of his life last time out; well I know he did today! Was quality, an a sist and clearance off the line, great performance, unfortunately for us. Both sides changed it with Harry Davis and Anquan Boldin Jersey Mathias Pogba coming off for Chuks Aneke and Max Clayton whilst Stephen Elliot went off for Franck Mou sa for the hosts. It was the away side who took the lead though as some sloppy play at the back let substitute Clayton through to lift a ball over Joe Murphy and into the net, beating any clearances off the line by the incoming City defenders, scoring with his first touch. John Fleck then came on for City in place of Gary McSheffrey and the substitute nearly set up Jennings for his hat trick of chances, as he flicked flecks cro s at goal only for Phillips to save again. The crowd started getting restle s with the officials as nothing was going for us and Mou sa was the final man to be booked of the game, crowd of 10,139 (383 away) with the Crewe supporters only needing 3 minutes on the clock to start singing the Wembley chant, only song I heard all game, talk about rubbing it in Final substitutions for both side came with Jennings going off for Callum Wilson whilst the Alex last change was Bradden Inman with Oliver Turton coming on in replacement. Last decent chance fell to the young striker as he headed just over the bar but that was it.Absolutely depre sing watching the city at home lately, home form is very poor when really it needs to be more consistent. I dont think we can get play offs with our form at the Ricoh, bloody cursed ground. Just hopefully a new manager is in place soon and we can kick on from there. Tough trip away at Bournemouth Tuesday now, take a point now. PUSB
